@Li@tech.lgbt the main difference being that in source available code, you can only audit, you cannot fix the vulnerabilities yourself.
or if you do, you cannot then submit it as a patch to also fix it for others.

    @heredos i mean you can still report it to the vendor even say what exactly to fix (though if you want you can make this point as explicitly source avalible for the sake of fixing security bugs and nothing else)

      i remember reading at least two instances of people reporting issues in source-available software, the companies not doing anything, the researcher getting pissed off after a year of unproductive back and forth, disclosing the issue, and the company suing them for it.
