Microsoft Edge on Linux
Yes, Microsoft has released a version of Microsoft Edge for Linux.
If you're using Fedora KDE Plasma or Kubuntu, you can find it in the app store.
(Personally, I use a different web browser, but Microsoft Edge is there if you want it.)
#Fedora #Linux #Windows #Windows10 #Windows11 #Kubuntu #MicrosoftEdge #Edge
Hence the good ol' joke:
MS-Windows™ user: Linux sucks, c'mon loser, name just one thing you can do on Linux that I cannot do on my superior Windows?
Linux user: 𝚜𝚞𝚍𝚘 𝚊𝚙𝚝 𝚛𝚎𝚖𝚘𝚟𝚎 𝚎𝚍𝚐𝚎-𝚋𝚛𝚘𝚠𝚜𝚎𝚛
It's a good joke, because it's true.
Although, the store app makes it so much easier -- you just click on removed.
As a 58 years old man who switch to Linux in 1997, clicking on thing just feel weird and I can't get used to it! 😂
I’m 44 years old, and truthfully, I prefer to click on things.
I grew up with DOS, DR-DOS, PC-DOS, MS-DOS, OS/2, Windows 3.0, 3.1, 95, 98, 98SE — and I even had an Apple Lisa for a while.
When Linux first came out, I thought it was a step backward into the terminal. I did, of course, learn the terminal (kind of had to), but I never liked it. I’ve always preferred progress in ease of use — and if it were up to me, we’d be using voice commands by now.
@Linux_Is_Best The cool thing is that Linux is fully usable and cool for both of us although we prefer our interaction with it to be very different!
If you are comfortable letting an llm use your terminal that is.
I personally am not but the choice is up to you.
So to recharge my phone I used to call a number and there was menu driven interface that would guide me.
You know like "Press one for menu 1 or 2 for menu 2".
A bit annoying but it do the job.
They replaced this system...
..With an AI agent.
Now I must talk with a robot who always say: "I did not understand, please repeat."
My phone is dead for 2 days now. I am unable to recharge it.
Try pushing buttons like you used to and see if it works
if you spell "Absolutely Nothing" backwards you get "Gnihton Yletulosba" which means absolutely nothing.
Amazing!

Hokay, I've launched a webapp at https://discoverfedi.app
What's it do?
- Let's you browse the federated timeline of a selected instance (use the change instance button to switch to something else, with mastodon.social being the default)
- Can switch to image-only view for a more "instagram" kind of feels
- Search the entire federated network (uses the fedi observer api, is a bit wonky and am still working out the kinks)
- Search hashtags on the instance you're currently viewing
- Save the instance you're viewing to "favorites" (stored as a cookie)
- Show/hide NSFW content
- Uses GardenFence to block harmful instances from being accessed in the search and display (although blocked content may show up in an instance's federated timeline, this is one of those dents in the development that need un-dented)
- Light and dark theme changed manually, or adjusted to system settings
- Requires no logon credentials, no registration, since many many many instances are publicly visible
- Works nice on a phone
Issues:
- Some instances may return an error
- Some instances may not display properly, especially across different software
- Search is a bit funky
Why?
People outside of the fediverse always complaining about how difficult it is to see what the heck the fediverse is, or choose servers. Well, the problem? There's well over 20,000+ servers, and this may or may not fix the issue of "finding things" lol
This could be an iOS/Android app, but I don't feel like paying Apple or Google money for dev accounts
stay strong, don't let the capitalism crush you.
Today's Low Quality Ad is for this Cat Pin. There's a reason why there are police dogs and not police cats. Cats wouldn't only let the criminals get away, they'd help bury the bodies too.
https://collabs.shop/cmqgnc
@lowqualityfacts He looks more wolf or dog like. Aren't cat ears at greater angles usually?
But I agree!
@lowqualityfacts This is a police cat.

Urusai can someone explain to me why gaming chairs are over $1000 CAD
Exactement come la peste! 🤣
please, i need this
Today's Low Quality Ad is for these Sloth Oven Mitts. Sloth might be one of the seven deadly sins, but at least it's not the worst one. I'm okay with the service being slow at Applebee's, but I certainly don't want the chef lusting over my dish.

Also, can sloths eat cinnamon rolls? If so, I am starting a nonprofit to feed sloths cinnamon rolls.
it's not even piracy, it's convenience.
Here's some tips for all the newcomers on here:
-Introduce yourself by announcing what your least favorite fish is. It is standard.
-If you wish to verify your account, please upload a picture of your face to confirm that you are not Jared Leto. Jared is not allowed on here.
-Socialize by finding one person and commenting "I like this one even more than the last one" on every single one of their posts.

"Il y a aussi le Diet Coke, ou Coca diète comme vous dites au Canada"
🤦
I need a computer for my sibling. They is at an art school, doing 2d animation. As such, they don't need a beefy cpu but they need a good amount of (preferably upgradable) ram, and a lot of storage as well, and that needs to be swappable, no other way around it, usb drives are way too slow for uncompressed high quality animated images with tons of transparent layers.
On top of that, they need a stylus screen. They already has a graphic tablet, but it's not the kind you can take at uni or in vacation.
Please tell me framework are not the only ones to have something like that...
Boosts, renotes or whatever you call them might help
If I wrote blogs about the stuff I am reading and watching would any of you read it?
why does right to repair attract so many far right nazi chuds, like- you do know that having shit owned by big corporation that controls your every move with it, is litterally _what the far right nazi chuds_ want, like thats litterally heavan for them, they want that with not just your computer too, but like fucking everything, they want to control your life, your body, who you can be with, heck, if you get to be alive at all.
@wyatt i mean it didn't take a genius to figure out that frameworks little add-on IO was only really sold by them as well as parts to repair their laptops with and shit ...
... still- i dont see how alienating half your userbase by going with someone who wants them fucking dead; when your only selling point is an illiusion of being 'not horrible' .. is meant to be good way to make money either ... ...
framework has seemingly decided that "right to repair" covers your computer; you can mod that, and fix it all you want, but not your own fucking body of course the state should own you, and deny you any ability to change it,
as they are now seemingly shipping transphobic techbro grifter distro no one has heard of, with its computers;
.. very sad .. but who could have seen this coming its not like it was any warning signs like shilling AI or whatever
@Li lol what
i’ve never had a lot of faith in their integrity but elaborate
@heredos full disclosure: i actually didn't know who he or dhh was, and looking them up their wikipedia page isn't anything obvious, (mentioned ruby on rails, and race car driving, not much else) .. not sure about the other guy; impression initally was just that they shilled a really shit distro, xS
you can see me being confused here. https://tech.lgbt/@Li/115340738238197017
it is possible they don't know, but really what matters more is how they react to this, they could just go for any not fascism backed distro .. it seems weird they'd go for the one no ones heard of thats backed by fascists and full of bullshit slop features
But it got kinda viral so it made sense for fw to praise it a bit.
i heard that there is a bit of drama in their discord, i wonder how they will handle this...
That's not a good mentality when working with punchcards...
what?
Whoops.
@lowqualityfacts Or did they forget? Maybe they filled it before shipping and they forgot to feed them so the bottom is just filled with bones.
I thought scientists were supposed to be smart?
Thankfully, exchange students had already made friends who did speak french
we're making magic potions, but it's only magic because we don't know chemistry yet.
I think it all became known to public when they democratized among non-researchers. When they became products for a wide audience instead of research topics for a bunch of engineers.
But i'm pretty sure they were trained on copyrighted data even before that, it's just that it almost never reached the hands of the people.
It just turns out that to make generative ml good enough that people want to pay for it we also need models too big to not be almost completely opaque.
But then, the fact that we have very little research on model reverse engineering, interpretability and the like, is likely due to big ai labs having absolutely no interest in doing so, for the very reasons you just gave.
